For many of us our sustainability journey begins with wanting to reduce our use of plastics, particularly single use plastics. The two hot spots for single use plastic in our homes are the kitchen and the bathroom. We are forever being advertised the new wonder cleaning product or beauty product that will transform us. All too often, these products are packaged in hard to recycle plastic containers and they are also packed full of nasty chemicals and synthetic ingredients.

Enough is enough, I hear you say!

I quite agree and I am delighted to introduce you to an innovative ethical company thats here to help you in your plastic reduction quest. Meet the Bower Collective.

Who are the Bower Collective?

Bower Collective are an independent B-Corp business that was launched to help people eliminate plastic waste in their homes. Plastic waste is tackled through the creation of natural household products packed into recyclable pouches. Each Bower product comes with a refillable glass or recycled plastic dispenser that can be reused over and over again. Bower Collective are like your trusty sidekick when it comes to making your lifestyle more sustainable and less plastic filled.

How does the Bower refill system work?

You have two options when purchasing products from the Bower Collective range. You can either buy products as a one off purchase, or you can subscribe to receive regular refills of your chosen products so that you never run out! By subscribing you also gain 10% off all refills. Heres how it works:

  1. Choose your favourite products from the Bower range
  2. Receive your order of products with the associated dispensers
  3. Fill up your dispensers
  4. Treat your home and body by using these gorgeous products
  5. Pop the lids back on empty pouches
  6. Fill your prepaid returns envelope with your empty pouches
  7. Pop them in the post
  8. Order your refills or await your subscription parcel and repeat the process

Why refill systems are so important

Did you know that less than 10% of plastic is successfully recycled in the UK?

So however diligent you are about putting your plastic waste in your recycling bin, most of it is likely to still end up in landfill, incineration plants or even dumped in foreign countries.

By sending your empty pouches back to Bower, you are ensuring that your plastic waste will be reused, refilled or effectively recycled by Bower.

Refillable packaging reduces the need for virgin plastic packaging to be created and keeps existing materials in use for much longer. This reduces the overall environmental impact of the packaging and means that waste is reduced significantly.

Theres really no catch… its just a brilliant way to reduce waste and make our lifestyles that little bit more eco friendly.

I am really enjoying using these products and the pump bottles are so much easier to use than most squeeze shampoo and body wash bottles- plus they look a lot nicer too! So if you are on the hunt for natural, eco friendly options for your home and body then Bower Collective might be just the place to end your search!
